Shawols worldwide stood up against Twitter's new policy for inactive accounts to protect the late Jonghyun's twitter

On November 26, the famous social media platform, Twitter announced it's new policy that will remove existing inactive accounts. Twitter started to send emails to owners of inactive accounts who have not used/tweeted in the last six months. Starting December 11, 2019, the existing username will be up for grabs again.

This triggered Shawols worldwide, seeing that the account of the late SHINee member, Kim Jonghyun will be deleted too. The late idol's last tweet was noted April 24, 2017, eight months before he passed away in December of the same year.

Shawols trended the following hashtags #종현이와의_소중한추억 (#OurPreciousMemories_WithJonghyun) and #소중한추억_없애지말아줘 (#PleaseDon'tDelete_OurPreciousMemories) in order to express their feelings towards this policy and to protect Jonghyun's personal twitter account.

Fans have admitted that his personal Twitter account serves as a place where they can relieve their memories with him.

The following day, Twitter issued their statement regarding the issue saying "We’ve heard you on the impact that this would have on the accounts of the deceased. This was a miss on our part. We will not be removing any inactive accounts until we create a new way for people to memorialize accounts."

And now, SHAWOLS and other fans of our beloved idols who passed should wait for further progress for this. It's amazing how fans protect their idols as long as they can.

We miss you, Jonghyun. You remain in our hearts forever.
