BTS breaks streaming records upon release of Map of the Soul: Persona

ARMYs all over the world almost broke the world wide web last Friday, when the South-Korean septet and worldwide stars, BTS dropped their new album, Map of the Soul: Persona.

This has garnered the most number of pre-orders, doubling their previous pre-order record for ‘Love Yourself: Answer’ which was released in August 24, 2018.

Their first single off of this album entitled Boy With Luv’ features American singer, Halsey which was released 5:00PM PHT on April 12, 2019 became the most viewed music video in the first 24hours. With a massive 78M views, they surpassed the records of Ariana Grande for  ‘Thank U, Next” with 55.4M views, which held the record for 4 months and Blackpink’s ‘Kill This Love’ with 56.7M views, which held the record for 1 week.

‘Boy With Luv’ also took the lead in the groups’ list of most viewed music video in 24 hours as it surpassed the previous record of ‘Idol’ which has 45.9M views.

Another record was set by the music video as the fastest video to reach 100M views which was achieved within 37 hours and 38 minutes, previously held by fellow K-Pop act, Blackpink with ‘Kill This Love’ that achieved 100M in 67 hours.
